Sunday 20 December 2009.
Well, it's almost Christmas and this is the first time that I have published anything on our news page. I scan the newspapers 2 or three times a week and have never found anything really worth publishing. That's Le Marche, a region where time almost stands still and the better for it.
Looking back over the year - work has continued on the third carriageway of the A14 motorway. It does not cause too much disruption except at the busiest times and even then you are only slowed down a little, the traffic keeps moving.
The long series of earthquakes in Abruzzo made our houses tremble but no damage was caused in our region.
We have had another hot dry summer with some trees and plants suffering. This year the good weather continued with almost summer weather right up to the 13th of December when we were hit by a bora (weather from Russia) bringing snow to Le Marche and many parts of Italy. This week, temperatures have dropped as low as -4° centigrade at night.
British and American residents and the tourist industry have suffered from the poor exchange rate between the pound/dollar and the Euro, let's hope things will improve in 2010.
